Playhouse Site Preparation | Sweet Retreat Kids
Get a head start on playtime by preparing your playhouse site before your playhouse arrives.
Level Surface - Most importantly, be sure to have a level surface for your playhouse.
Surface Material - Ideally, you should also prepare your playhouse site with crushed stone or a concrete pad. This will allow needed air flow and increase the longevity of your playhouse. It will keep it looking great for years to come!
Option 1, Crushed Stone - We recommend using about 4-5" of stone under your playhouse. To prepare your site for the stone, you may dig out 4" of soil and level the soil, OR you can make a frame using 4"x4"s or landscape timbers and fill it with crushed stone flush with the top of the frame.
Option 2, Concrete Pad - Another option is to have a concrete pad installed. Be sure to keep the pad as close to ground level as possible.
12" Border Around Playhouse - Whether you choose crushed stone or a concrete pad, we recommend that you extend it 12" on all sides of the playhouse. This will keep moisture away from the playhouse to increase its longevity. It's also helpful for weed control.
Permits/Permissions - If your city/subdivision requires a building permit, be sure to obtain it before ordering. If you will need to cross a neighboring property to get the playhouse materials to the playhouse site, please obtain permission before delivery day.
